A modular animation kit for a vibrant aquatic adventure.
When production called on Bait Studio to bring the vibrant underwater world of S4C’s Mari, Hari a’r Byd Tanddwr to life, we jumped right into the deep end. The challenge was to create a rich, playful, and dynamic aquatic environment that could seamlessly integrate into the show’s storytelling.
Rather than static backgrounds, we delivered a versatile visual toolkit, a modular set of custom 2D/3D animated assets designed to give the production team total creative flexibility during edit and post production.

What We Built
To transform the screen into an active underwater kingdom, we created a layered suite of animated elements and creature graphics, including:
Environmental FX: An animated ocean floor featuring swaying seaweed beds and a soft, light-dappled surface ripple overhead to establish depth and water atmosphere.
Hero Creatures: A animated sea turtle and a playful octopus, designed with fluid movement and distinct personality.
Ecological Details: Swirling shoals of fish that add continuous motion, scale, and life across scene transitions.
Modular Motion Toolkit
By building the graphics as a modular animation kit, the production team could layer, repeat, and rearrange visual elements across different episodes. This approach allowed for high visual consistency across the series while providing the edit suite with maximum freedom to tailor shots on the fly.
